Finding your way to Lighthouse Lodge
Lighthouse Lodge is approx 1hr 45 mins drive from Whangarei or
approx 3hr 15mins from Auckland.
Lighthouse Lodge, the Kaipara Heads and the Kaipara lighthouse are
reached by road about 1 hours drive from Dargaville, via the scenic
Pouto road which winds through farmlands, pine plantations, passes
lakes and horticultural grounds along this part of the Kaipara coast,
the longest shoreline harbour in the southern hemisphere.
4WD vehicles can also access Lighthouse Lodge at Pouto Point from the west
after traveling down Ripiro ocean beach (NZ's longest driveable beach)
at low tide from Baylys Beach, west of Dargaville. Taylor Tours offers
return guided tours from Dargaville down the ocean beach to Lighthouse
Lodge where a rendezvous can be made with charter cruise boats.
